Located on the northern end of Jurassic Lake, our 40,000-acre estancia has exclusive access to miles and miles of Jurassic Lake shoreline, including several secluded bays that offer protection from the wind.

The stories you’ve heard are true. Even a “small” fish here is bigger than the largest rainbow most anglers have caught elsewhere. Jurassic Lake is incredibly rich in aquatic insects, and the trout here gorge themselves on scuds (freshwater shrimp) and reach impossible sizes. Ten-to-twenty-pound trout are caught regularly. And did we mention that many of these trout are caught while sight fishing? Read that again, its true. With the possibility of fishing small intimate creeks to the beautiful freestone Barrancoso River to the world-famous Jurassic Lake, our lodge is one of the world’s premier fly fishing adventures.

Unlike other operations in the Strobel area, Lago Strobel Lake challenges visiting anglers to fish new beats every day of the week, combining varied locations and using different techniques targeting the best fishing with the most rewarding methods.

In order to understand the advantages of fishing at LAGO STROBEL LODGE, it is essential to understand the geography of the area, and the Barrancoso river in particular, so as not to be deceived by misleading publicity by a few specific outfitters with a short term mentality.

With a total length of about 50 km, it is important to note that only the last stretch holds consistently big fish, especially in the prime months. This last stretch of the last 10 km of this astonishing river, are the ones that go through LAGO STROBEL LODGE (both banks!), with our property ending a short distance from the last 3 / 4 pools of the river before it drains into Strobel lake.

Without a doubt, one of the highlight programs at our Estancia is Barrancoso River which is the one and an only tributary of Strobel Lake.
As mentioned before, this beautiful freestone river runs for more than 10 km through our Estancia in the single best part of it!!!! There are no other parts of the river like this one, and there are no other trophy waters like ELV waters.

Only a handful of anglers staying at LAGO STROBEL LODGE, get the chance to fish the best pools and runs of this one of a kind river, which many experts consider to be the very best wild rainbow trout trophy water in the world!!!!

By northern and central Patagonia standards, many of the so-called “lagoons” at Estancia Laguna Verde would fall under the category of lakes, which is actually what they are!

Fed by Moro creek, this amazing system of chained small lakes in LAGO STROBEL LODGE is an aspect many times overlooked in the quest of catching some of the largest rainbow trout in the world!

Nothing to blame or argue about it, though. But we feel obliged to mention that these lakes can offer some of the most exciting stillwater fishing for resident brown trout, brook and rainbow trout in Argentina, which, combined with Moro creek, make an awesome program, any day of the week.

At Lago Strobel Lodge, we strive to make our cuisine as quality as the fishing—and that’s saying something. After a good night’s rest, guests will enjoy a hearty, chef-prepared breakfast to nourish them for a day of fishing. After breakfast, anglers split into pairs and head to the water. Following a morning of incredible fishing, guests have the option of returning to the lodge for a plentiful lunch and a siesta or taking their lunch on the water.

Guests that choose to eat in the field can enjoy the strategically located “sun lounges” build around the property. After returning from an amazing day of fishing, guests can freshen up before dinner and enjoy a cocktail from our fully stocked bar. We take food seriously and our operation strives to deliver great and hearty meals to match the fishing experience!!!

Our passion is fishing, but a close second is wine! Both at Lago Strobel Lodge and Estancia Laguna Verde we have in our cellars hundreds of bottles of wine personally selected by the lodge owners as well as a large assortment of local Patagonian and Argentine cheeses, aged on site. Appetizers, cocktails, and Argentine wines are served as guests tell stories from the day. Seated in our beautiful dining room, guests can expect an ample 3-course dinner with dishes of steak, lamb, pork, chicken, house-made pastas, and fish. Each course is paired with a chef-selected wine to accompany the meal.

A favorite of our guests, one night our chef and sous chef will prepare a traditional Argentine asado of grilled meats. After the main course, dessert is served along with after dinner drinks. With zero light pollution and constellations unique to the southern hemisphere, you can enjoy a cigar and cocktail under the Patagonian sky.

The Lodge is located very close to Lake Strobel, and according to where you will be fishing each day, drives could take from 5/10 minutes to 30 minutes.

• Transfers to/from Calafate (Santa Cruz) to/from Estancia Laguna Verde Lodge, with specially prepared comfortable transportation and 4-wheel drive trucks with rod racks.
